Flip The Script On 2020
A lot of terrible things happened in 2020 and they cannot be reversed.
Many people were sick, too many died. Many lost their jobs and still more are going to grapple with their own mental health or that of those they love.
Notwithstanding that, and in no way making light of that, there was a lot to learn in 2020.
All of a sudden, everyone, everywhere had their idea of the “status quo” challenged. 2020 changed the way we worked, the way we lived, the way we shopped, the way we exercised and the way we socialized. Everyone was impacted in some way.
We learned we are resilient and that we can live IN change. We saw how creative and adaptable we truly are. We saw new innovation and collaboration. We saw the best and the worst in people and we saw that we can choose which side to support through our actions and our words.
On New Year’s Eve Day, I was reflecting on 2020 and realized that your feelings about the year could change depending on your perspective so I attempted a ‘palindrome poem’ a “reverse poem” that you read forwards and backwards.
It is not perfect. It is my first attempt. One thing that 2020 taught me is that we have to be willing to try new things and to do things differently.
A big thank you to the amazing Kurtis Seal who quickly helped me create the video on NYE. Kurtis, a student whose College education was interrupted by 2020.
